Pontoonin' out of bounds

This past Friday evening was spent by members of the MBC and their lovely spouses, cruising, swimming and pontoon boating in and around the wooders of Lake Minnetonka. Very little discussion of books took place, since this was strictly a social event and there was dancing to be done before we returned to port. All in all I'd highly recommend this outing, paired with the beer Session Lager, to any group whether you read books or not. I also came away with some excellent boating knowledge..."red and green, stay in between".

Now, on to business. Our current read of the month is "Sundog" by Jim Harrison, to be discussed over a St. Paul Saints game. We'll have to sample the stadium chow and brews to see if they meet the strict dietary requirements of the MBC. Now that's you have book club.

Getting Started

This is the first entry for the Manly Book Club Blog. We are a group of men in the Twin Cities that gather once a month to sample micro brews, eat cheeseburgers and catch up on life under the guise of discussing books. We do actually read books....Well, some of us read the books. And we do usually talk about the books. Sometimes the discussion lasts for more than 15 minutes. But in reality, I think that we enjoy having a standing monthy hall pass to get out of the house and have a little guy time in one of the local pubs.
